Worcester's housing stock is a working catalog of pre-war New England construction: block after block of 1890s–1920s triple-deckers across Main South, Vernon Hill, Grafton Hill and Quinsigamond Village, streetcar-era singles in Burncoat and Greendale, larger homes over the West Side and Tatnuck, and mill buildings around the Canal District converted to lofts. Worcester runs its own water system — this is not MWRA territory. The city draws from reservoirs in the hill towns to the west and northwest and treats the supply at its filtration plant in Holden. On the sewer side, everything the city drains ends up at the Upper Blackstone Clean Water facility — which happens to be in Millbury, essentially around the corner from our shop.
